PCR
Definition
A cycle of heating and cooling that doubles a chosen DNA sequence each round, turning one copy into billions.
The technique nearly every other technique depends on. You cannot sequence, clone or assay a sequence you do not have enough of, and PCR is how you get enough. It is also the basis of the diagnostic tests most people first met in 2020.
