Colloid
Definition
A stable suspension of particles small enough that they stay dispersed instead of settling out.
Milk, ink and gold nanoparticle suspensions are all colloids. Stability is the engineering problem: particles that clump have effectively become one large particle and lose every property you made them small to get.
