About Workshop
Green nanotechnology integrates the concepts of sustainability, green chemistry, and nanoscience to develop materials and processes that minimize environmental impact. This workshop explores the development and application of green nanomaterials in areas such as water purification, sustainable packaging, environmental remediation, energy storage, and biomedical applications. Participants will gain insights into eco-design strategies, lifecycle considerations, and real-world industrial applications. The focus is on dry-lab understanding, case studies, and innovation pathways in sustainable product development.
Aim
This workshop aims to introduce participants to the principles and applications of green nanotechnology for developing sustainable materials and eco-friendly products.
Structure
Day 1: Fundamentals of Green Nanotechnology
- Introduction to green nanotechnology and sustainability concepts
- Eco-friendly nanomaterials and green synthesis approaches
- Bio-based materials: nanocellulose, plant-mediated nanoparticles
- Role in circular economy and sustainable product design
- Hands-on: Design a green synthesis approach for a nanomaterial
- Tools Used: Canva, Jupyter Notebook, Python (basic visualization), Excel / Google Sheets, Google Scholar, PubMed
Day 2: Sustainable Nanomaterials & Applications
- Green synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles
- Bio-nanocomposites and nano-enabled materials
- Applications: packaging, water purification, agriculture, textiles, coatings
- Environmental impact and safety considerations
- Hands-on: Develop a sustainable nanomaterial application map
- Tools Used:Jupyter Notebook, Python (data visualization), Excel / Google Sheets, ImageJ, Miro / Jamboard
Day 3: Product Innovation & Commercialization
- Characterization: UV-Vis, FTIR, SEM, XRD, DLS, Zeta potential
- Product development using green nanotechnology
- Validation, product claims, and regulatory basics
- Lab-to-market strategy and business opportunities
- Hands-on: Develop one green nano-product concept
- Tools Used:Python (analysis & graphs), Jupyter Notebook, Canva (product design), ImageJ, Excel / Google Sheets, BioRender
